I think this is my favourite time of year. I say I think because for me every season is special, but Autumn really gets to me. The colours of the leaves, the beautiful golden light everywhere. The crisp cool mornings and dampening chilly evenings that make you want to snuggle up under a rug with your favourite person on the sofa.
The weeks, months and seasons seem to canter on past these days. It doesn't seem five minutes ago that it was the beginning of Summer. So I was happy to read about a project called Styling the Seasons started by Katy at Apartment Apothecary and Charlotte at Lotts and Lots - they're asking everyone to style a part of their home to reflect the month and season. And as I love faffing about with pretty things rather than do something useful like the ironing, I was more than happy to oblige.
I still love bringing in flowers from the garden to brighten up the house and catch the light. And you have to have a Stag or two in the Autumn. And candles, lots of candles for the evening time.
The fruit at this time of the year is amazing, it looks so pretty too, so I like to have a bowl of gorgeous apples on the kitchen table instead of flowers. They don't last long with my children around.
More stags, more blankets, more candles. A cosy corner of the kitchen to sit and look out at the changing garden.
How do you style the seasons? You can join in too on instagram if you like, just tag #stylingtheseasons. Happy September everyone.
